I think the most type of cards I often find myself doing or looking for are birthday cards. And it might be because I somehow attend about 3 or 4 birthdays every month and I think that number is going to go up because I have to add kids birthday parties now because of my son. Today is one of those days. It’s not a super big celebration but the birthday girl is special to me so I decided to make her a card along with a handmade gift bag for her gift. Time was against me today because it’s a holiday in the city I live in so that means I was home with lots of house stuff on hold because I wanted to spend as much time as possible with my baby. So when his nap came, I decided to make the birthday card. I initially had done a background and liked the outcome but I ruined it by using some stamps with a pigment ink 😔 boo I know. So I decided to make her a card using good ol patterned paper. It was the easiest and fastest card I could think of. I simply cut a front card panel that was about 4 x 5 1/2 inches out of some dotted patterned paper I had, which happens to be from a heidiswapp.com paper pad. And heat embossed the sentiment using the big greetings stamp set by AveryElle. Then I cut two strips of a pink patterned paper (from Heidi Swapp as well) and attached it to the sides of the front panel. Added some pink sequins that I had and that was it. I gotta say I like the outcome but it would have looked better with another color of embossing powder. Perhaps white or gold? Hmm, guess I’m going to have to make another one to find out.
Here are the pictures of the card:
